Mevlana's Mausoleum

Since Mevlana's death, his family kept complete records of their family. These records today show that Celebi family is one of the oldest families in the world. Our family tree spans more than eight centuries and includes 26 generations. The youngest member of our family, the 21^st great-grandchildren of Mevlana is nine years old (in year 2002). The oldest recorded member of our family is Mevlana's great-great father, Ahmed-i Hatibi who lived in 12^th century AD.

During the more than 800 years of recorded history of The Mevlevi Order, 33 members of the the family occupied the Post. These members are highlighted with blue colour in the family tree charts.

Please note that this is not an attempt to catalogue the complete Mevlana family tree. Our resources are miniscule to what is required to catalogue a family tree that expands 700 plus years. What we have done instead is to catalogue the mainly male descendant of Mevlana and followed the branch of the family whose members occupied the Post. A separate family tree that shows all known ascendants and descendants of Dr. Celaleddin Celebi and his wife Guzide is also included.
